Career Highlights
Nominated for the Best Newcomer in the Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Award 2010 (his first ever stand-up show) success came quick to Imran, who remains a household name almost 12 years after his first gig. While his first Edinburgh routine earned him glowing 5-star reviews from Edinburgh’s trickiest critics, Imran’s comedy didn’t stop at the indie scene. Following his Edinburgh success, he quickly made it onto the small screen, appearing on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow on BBC1, and BBC3’s Edinburgh Comedy Fest. In 2012, he even land his own pilot television show, The Imran Yusuf Show.
A talented writer and natural performer, Imran is most at home when performing his own material onstage. Since his first Edinburgh routine, he has written and performed four solo stand up shows:, “Bring The Thunder” in 2011, “Roar of The Underdog” in 2014, “Super Roar of The Underdog Turbo X: HD Remix”, 2015, and “Saint, Sinner, Sufi”, which debuted in 2018.
While the stage remains his natural habitat, Imran also boasts some impressive acting credits. He starred in BBC3’s “Fried”, CBBC’s “Ultimate Brain” (CBBC) and more recently in “Gormint”, a series original by Amazon Prime Video.
A true believer in the healing power of laughter, Imran has also used his comedy for good. In 2019, he decided to join forces with Ashley Blaker, Orthodox Jewish comedian, and take their hilarious show “Prophet Sharing” to the stage for three nights. They managed to sell out each show, and their collaboration helped build bridges within the UK Jewish community and UK Muslim community.
What do the critics have to say?
“I came out of the show somewhat in love with him.” The Skinny
“‘One of the most captivating, energetic & animated stand up comedians I’ve ever seen.” The New Current
