His international tour, ‘The Chocolate Chip,’ received high praise from The Evening Standard, who called his playful yet subversive subject matter “a victory lap”, and Dane’s wins don’t end there.

Black, British, Brilliant
Dane Baptiste is paving the way for a new and unapologetic class of comedy. As the first Black British act to be nominated for the “Best Newcomer” award at the Edinburgh Festival, he is also the first black comedian to write a commissioned pilot for the BBC that became a series with Sunny D.
Baptiste is already being hailed as one of the most exciting acts to break in years, and his championing of his goal to be “unapologetically black” in the British comedy scene is a refreshing statement. His ‘The Chocolate Chip’ tour aimed to deliver the message that Dane was embracing the “chip on your shoulder” that people may accuse anyone who discusses racial or economic inequality of having.
Committed to BAME creatives receiving the representation they deserve, Dane advocates for more BAME members on panels in an effort to define the present, not just the future. Performing, educating, and informing an audience is what Dane is best at – and providing witty and amusing anecdotes, of course.
If Dane weren’t a comedian? He’d be a cartoonist.
