Intelligent, hilarious, and probably your favourite late-night panellist – yes, we’re talking about Sara Pascoe! Since beginning her stand-up career in 2007, Pascoe has been a trailblazer in women’s comedy, becoming a UK favourite both on the small screen and onstage. If you’re lucky, you might even find her at one of our comedy clubs in London.
Career Highlights After working as a London tour guide, Sara began her stand-up comedy journey back in 2007, finding quick success and winning runner-up at the Funny Women awards in 2008. She went on to perform her sold-out show, Sara Pascoe vs. Her Ego, at the Edinburgh Fringe Comedy Festival in August 2010, earning rave reviews from both her fans and festival critics alike.
Since then, Pascoe has made appearances on a variety of classic British comedy shows, and become a recurring panellist on shows including Stand Up for the Week, Mock the Week, QI, Have I Got News For You, Would I Lie to You, and Hypothetical. Pascoe also starred in the all-female sketch comedy Girl Friday, which was co-written by Pascoe herself for Channel 4.
In 2014, she toured Britain for the first time with her self-titled Sara Pascoe Vs History stand-up show. The show was nominated for Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Award in 2014 for Best Comedy Show, cementing her place amongst the UK’s top-rated and most talented comics.
A talented wordsmith, Pascoe has also written two books: Animal: The Autobiography of a Female Body, an personal autobiography released in 2016, and Sex, Power Money, a reflection on the relationships between men and women, informed mostly by Pascoe’s own life experiences.
Fiercely political, Sara has also used her platform to promote causes important to her: she appeared in Channel 4’s Stand up to Cancer comedy sketch initiative, and she also toured the UK in 2016 with then-Labour-leader Jeremy Corbyn, tackling issues such as poverty, student debt, and the cost of living.
